Supplies Needed:
- Herb-infused oil (like calendula, comfrey, lavender, or plantain)
- Beeswax pastilles or grated beeswax
- Optional: Essential oils, vitamin E oil
- Clean glass jar or small tins for storage
- Double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a saucepan
- Cheesecloth or strainer (if infusing your own oil)
- Label and marker
β¨ Simple Balm Formula:
- 1 cup herbal-infused oil
- ΒΌ cup beeswax pastilles (adjust for desired firmness)
- Optional: 10β20 drops essential oil (e.g., lavender, tea tree)
πΏ How to Make It:
1. Infuse the Oil (if needed)
- Combine dried herbs with a carrier oil (like olive, jojoba, or coconut).
- Gently heat using a double boiler for 1β3 hours on low, or infuse in a sunny window for 2β4 weeks.
- Strain well before use.
2. Melt the Ingredients
- Place infused oil and beeswax in a double boiler.
- Heat gently, stirring until the beeswax is fully melted.
- Remove from heat.
3. Add Extras (Optional)
- Add essential oils or vitamin E now.
- Stir well.
4. Pour and Set
- Carefully pour the liquid balm into clean tins or jars.
- Let cool and harden completely (about 30β60 minutes).
- Label and date your balm.
π Storage and Use:
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Shelf life: 6β12 months
- Apply as needed to dry skin, minor wounds, insect bites, or irritation.
