🌿 Basic Herbal Liniment Recipe (Alcohol-Based)
✅ Supplies Needed:
- Dried herbs of choice (see suggestions below)
- 80–100 proof alcohol (vodka or rubbing alcohol)
- Glass jar with lid (Mason jar works well)
- Cheesecloth or fine strainer
- Small glass bottles for storage (dark glass preferred)
- Label and marker
🌿 Ingredient Suggestions:
Choose 2–4 of the following dried herbs:

📖 Instructions:
1. Fill the Jar
- Add dried herbs to a clean glass jar:
- Fill about ½ to ⅔ full with the herbal mix.
- Don’t pack them too tightly.
2. Add Alcohol
- Pour vodka or rubbing alcohol over the herbs until they’re fully covered by 1–2 inches.
- Seal the jar tightly.
3. Label and Infuse
- Label with:
- Herb names
- Alcohol used
- Date
- Let sit in a cool, dark place for 2–4 weeks.
- Shake daily or every few days.
4. Strain and Bottle
- Strain through cheesecloth into a clean bowl.
- Bottle in dark glass bottles.
- Label clearly as “For External Use Only”.
🧴 How to Use:
- Apply a small amount to affected area and massage in gently.
- Use before or after physical activity, or on sore joints/muscles.
- Do not apply to broken skin, eyes, or mucous membranes.
🧊 Optional Variations:
- Cooling Liniment: Focus on peppermint, eucalyptus, and witch hazel.
- Warming Liniment: Use cayenne, ginger, and arnica.
